This is a huge Bison calcaneum (heel bone) it seems as if most Bison material you see is usually old cow and not Bison - the preservation being pretty sketchy. This exceedingly crisp bone however is rock hard solid and has some sandbar matrix naturally cemented to it. You can't get much better than that. It is 6 3/4 inches long (yikes!).
