To the non-specialist, this appears to be a dragonfly, but the easy way to tell the difference is by how the wings are held. Damselfly = back and up, dragonfly = spread out and to the side. The plate measures 8 inches x 6 ¼ inches and is ¼ inch thick. The specimen is 2 ¼ inches long. What may appear to be a crack or break in the plate is deceiving. It is only a mineral streak.
